Coaching vs. Counseling
As Coaching is a relatively new field, it’s helpful to look to how it differs from counseling. We at DNA Ministries fully affirm the necessity of counseling for certain circumstances. Counseling implies advice, and for some situations that is needed. However, Coaches do not give advice.
Christian Life Coaching empowers you to put together the changes you need to make. Coaches develop a deeper, less clinical relationship with each client. Whereas Counselors have strict scheduled session times, Coaches encourage emailing through out the week, and “spot calls” (5-10) minute calls which give updates, and encouragement). Christian Coaching is what most of us have been looking for, but don’t know it.
Coaching is for healthy individuals liking to make progress in areas of their personal life, spiritual life, business, or other areas that need growth. Coaching is for those who feel like they have tried to make progress and are still stuck. Whether you are a business owner looking to take your business to the next level, or a homemaker spinning your wheels as you look to instill Godly values in your children, Coaching can help you get from where you are at, to where you would like to be. Coaching can help you get from where you are at to where you would like to be. Give us a call today at 1-586-771-9124 or email at Info@DNAministries.com.

How Does Coaching Work:
Coaching has progressed through the years, and you don’t have to be a multi-million dollar sports figure to reap its benefits. A transparent relationship is built, and progress is made from both the relationship and the expertise of the coach to pull you closer to where you would like to be. Larry Crabb, in his book Connecting (2004), notes that most people who come to him for help as a Psychotherapist do not need to be in his office. What they need is to connect, and hopefully a coach can provide that for them.
Coaching is conducted via phone and email, and is therefore conducive to busy schedules and rushed lives. Although counseling is beneficial in some cases, what most people are looking for is progress; real change. Depending on the need, coaching is typically done one session per week.
As a result of the unique relationship, connection with your Coach is crucial. That is why we are glad to give you the first session free! This allows you to assess for yourself if coaching is right for you. Give us a call to set up your free, no obligation first session. There’s nothing to lose and everything to gain!
If I am seeing a counselor and/or therapist, can I still be coached? In most cases, the answer is yes! However; as coaching is client driven, it is important for you to be at a stable place in order to reap the benefits of. Coaching is for healthy people who are ready to make changes. We also encourage you to inform your therapist about your concurrent coaching relationship.
If I am struggling with marital and/or interpersonal difficulties, can Coaching still be right for me? Absolutely! Coaching is action oriented which helps you to respond differently and be proactive to improve relationships in your life. You may want to better the relationship with your spouse, boss, employees, parents, or children. Coaching looks forward in helping you get to where you would like to be relationally with those in your life.
